Geographic .au domain names ballot now open

The commercial geographic domain names ballot is now officially open.

Around 40,000 com.au and net.au domain names are being released by way of an ballot process starting today 1 June 2005 and concluding on 31 July 2005.

Heaps of great names are available including major cities like canberra.com.au, cairns.com.au, perth.com.au, goldcoast.com.au. Other examples include tourist destinations like margaretriver.com.au, bondi.com.au and cairns.com.au.

There's also a number of potentially very useful domains like casino.com.au that have commercial value and meaning well beyond that of their geographic counterparts.
